For terminal servers which implement the local area transport (LAT) protocol, only bridges and repeaters can exist in the Ethernet internetwork between the VAX and the terminal server. (If this is not acceptable, terminal servers are available which will implement the TCP/IP protocol between the VAX and the terminal servers. TGV's MultiNet software is required.)

For TCP/IP communcation with the host computer, TGV's MultiNet software is recommended, although DEC's TCP/IP Services for Open VMS product will suffice for basic file transfer.
